FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo Warriors Lacrosse Club will hold a meeting for all members and prospective members at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Metro Recreation Center, 3110 Main Ave. in Fargo, to discuss the spring 2013 lacrosse season.

The meeting is projected to last an hour and the agenda includes a discussion regarding how many competitive teams the club will field this spring season, a possible varsity team trip to play in Montana, hosting a spring tournament in Fargo and club apparel orders.

Due to changes in league rules, the club is considering fielding as many as four competitive teams this year, including a high school varsity team comprised of eighth- through 12th-graders, an Under-15 team comprised of mostly eighth- and ninth-graders, an Under-13 team comprised of mostly sixth- and seventh-graders and an Under-11 team comprised of mostly fourth- and fifth-graders.

“One of the bigger issues is the decision to field teams below the varsity level,” club President Matt Noah said regarding Saturday’s meeting. “We need to hear from all affected players. The league has adopted a new classification system based on ages, rather than grades.”

Another important issue the club will discuss is the league’s rule change that allows teams to play in only one tournament in Minnesota in 2013. This presents an opportunity for the Fargo Warriors to host a tournament in Fargo, a scenario that would also give Minnesota teams an out-of-state option for an additional tournament.

In the spring, the Fargo Warriors will begin their third season competing in the Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association. The Warriors are part of the league’s northern conference with DuluthBrainerdGrand Rapids, and the two newest teams Grand Cities Lacrosse in Grand Forks, N.D., and the Proctor club.

Saturday’s meeting is open to all who are interested. Club members are encouraged to attend and provide their input, but newcomers to the sport are welcome to attend as well. There is plenty of opportunity to join the Fargo Warriors for their 2013 winter indoor clinic beginning in January and gain experience to play during the 2013 spring outdoor competitive season.
